About Us & Our Mission

Who we are:

Turtle Moon Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization in the state of Alabama who are dedicated to helping Pit Bulls through rescue, adoption, placement and education. We strive to promote a positive image for pit bulls in the community by doing educational seminars and outreach. We also advocate spay/neuter, responsible pit bull & dog ownership as well as humane treatment of dogs.

Mission Statement:

Turtle Moon Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, placement and public education of Pit Bulls and humane treatment of animals in our community. We strongly advocate responsible pet ownership and Pit Bull awarness. Even though we mainly work with Pit Bulls, we do not discriminate against any dog needing a chance due to it’s breed.

Our Philosophy:

We believe that Pit Bulls have been cheated out of their full potential because of negative stereotype. We feel that by educating the public on the true nature of these dogs, we may better help their future. Our goal is to assist Pit Bulls in need and help the public gain acceptance through education. By this we hope to help dissolve the ugly underground of Pit Bull life.

What we offer:

  • Currently we help area shelters with Pit Bulls by offering assistance for proper placement by means of screening potential adopters, home checks, and proper exposure of the dogs. If necessary we will help find temporary fostering for dogs in need and transportation of adopted dogs.
  • We work to educate shelters about Pit Bull breeds and offer assistance in training so that they may offer Pit Bull breeds for adoption.
  • We work to help potential adopters find the right dog for their environment through careful screening of both the dogs and the people. We also offer home checks in our area for other Pit Bull rescue groups and Pit Bull friendly shelters.
  • We offer in home training and behavior modification for people with dogs they are considering surrendering to a shelter, or for people who have recently adopted a Pit Bull dog in need from a shelter or rescue group
  • Pit Bull education packets and community outreach to help the public learn more about these often misunderstood breeds.
