Subject: PuppyMill Shar Pei/Lab mix puppies WI

I pull dogs from puppy mills that are no longer needed.  This one guy is into "Hybreds" now.  He has two 8 week old female Shar Pei/Lab mix puppies that he can't sell to the pet stores because they have some kind of eye defect.  What he said was their eye lids were too droopy. He usually charges $50 a piece for every dog he lets me take out, but, I'm going to see if he won't just give me these.   If he doesn't, I'll pay the $100.  I'm just looking for a rescue to take these two because I'm full.  If I don't take them out of there, we all know what happens to the unwanted, unsellable dogs in mills.  If you can help please contact me off list at reggielvr123@netzero.net

Georgia Deaf Dogs Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, August 22, 2004 from noon to 4pm??. It will be at Piedmont Park inside Downtown Atlanta. I would like to invite all deaf dog owners to come out with their dogs to share an afternoon  of fun and socialiation with them and theirs.

The directions from I-75/I-85 to Piedmont Park is from I-75/I-85 to
10th St NE to to turn left on Monroe Dive then turn left on Park Drive NE.

Here is the weblink to the Dog Park in Piedmont Park at
http://www.piedmontpark.org/visit/park_map.html to see #12 Off Leash Dog Park. You can park on Park Drive if it is not full in parking lot.

Last Sunday I went there to double check the dog park which I lost and I was glad to check the park out then next day, Monday I called the dog park to find out where is the dog park also received an email from Martin.

Here is the directions to the dog park when you go on Park Ave across the bridge before you plan to park on right side,   there is a dog park on right before you across the bridge. When you get out of parking lot, you need to go down the hill then go under the bridge on left, there is a dog park.

Also my adopted owner, Martin with Little Man/Balthasar lets us know that the dog park is off the paved walk way the runs around the empty grass area close to Park Tavern. Martin would park by Park Tavern then go ino the park by crossing over the hill and down into the paved walk way. Then take a right go all the way dwon until you see the park. The dog park is completely fenced in and has a double gate for additional doggie security.

It means that you have two places to park either at Park Ave Parking lot or Park Tavern Parking lot on Monroe Drive that you might not missing it on left side.

For all those who will be attending please bring the following, a lunch if you wish to have a picnic, blankets or chairs to sit on, water for your dogs, poop bags, though there is a fenced off leash area I do ask for you to have your dogs on leash outside the off leash park.  This is a public huge park so it will be shared with other dogs. The park has a lake that you can walk around and enjoys to see the views of Downtown Atlanta!!

See you there around noon which I am on my way from Petsmart with BBC people from British Broadcasting Corporation in London who will film me and my deafies for the show calls SEE HEAR then they and I will meet you all there... BBC want to film your deaf dogs in the dog park.

Temple University offers a course titled "Mammalian Physiology 0234."
In this course, live turtles and frogs are cut into and ultimately
killed in physiology show-and-tell exercises that can readily be
taught through the use of sophisticated computer programs.

An ever-increasing number of physicians, researchers, and college
professors agree that animal labs are outdated, expensive,
unnecessary, and cruel. Instead of teaching students that animals are
nothing more than disposable test tubes to be used in fleeting
laboratory exercises, many professors are turning to humane and more
effective alternatives, such as simulators, videos, and sophisticated
computer programs.

While other institutions of higher learning have embraced this
technology, Temple University has stubbornly refused to move its
curriculum into the 21st century. In fact, one student who was
enrolled in "Mammalian Physiology 0234" offered to purchase non-
animal teaching methods for the entire class and was reportedly
belittled by the professor. Please contact Temple University and ask
that it replace its use of live animals in "Mammalian Physiology
0234" with humane and more effective non-animal teaching methods:

Dear Fellow Rescuers,

Most of you here know me from dane rescue... Many of you also know how difficult it seems to be, to have our dane rescuers work together for the  benefit of the dogs, not themselves. I have had it with BAD rescuers.... I  have spent 10yrs in the valley trying to repair and do damage control after  these bad dane rescuers rape the dane community.

That being said, I wanted to let you know that I have formed an alliance  called: Great Dane Rescue of Az Alliance PO Box 86745 Phoenix, AZ 623 869-0409 message line

This Alliance has been formed to bring dane rescuers together. This will be  composed of dane rescuers that agree to a certain criteria... -Our danes will be vet checked as well as altered B4 going to their new  adoptive home.

-Our danes will be UTD on vaccinations, as needed. -Our danes will be temperament tested -We will do a home visit b4 an adoption is completed. -Our danes will have a meet & greet with potential adopters & their present  furkids.

OUR rescuers will run their own rescues and set their own adoption fees but  will agree to the "criteria" in order to be listed on the Alliance website.  Those rescues with the Alliance will be the ONLY rescues recommended to  potential adopters, different rescue sites as well as agencies throughout  the state of AZ, Nevada and California.  WE will be helping the rescues we now have to do the best job they can. We  can no longer afford for every dane rescue to be like an island unto itself.  We all need to work together & share our knowledge & information with each  other. After all, it's all about the dogs...Sharon-Dane Savers & Linda-Danes  Estates are finalizing the details & criteria for the Alliance.  WE are hoping that by forming this Alliance we can prevent rescuer burn out  as well as bad dane rescues from popping up and taking hold on an  unsuspecting community.

This is our goal! Plus with alllll the years of  experience Sharon & I have, we feel it would be criminal NOT to share what  we have learned with those who are doing their best to make a positive  contribution to the dane community.  WE will be a force to be reckoned with for anyone thinking they will mismanage or mistreat rescue danes here in the state of AZ. I hope we will have your moral support! lol

WE are fine tuning our website which will be up any time... We'll keep you posted!

Dear Animal Lovers, Activists and Rescuers:

The Queenie Foundation announces its ninth annual National Homeless
Animals' Day Candlelight Vigil Saturday, August 21, 2004, Dallas, at
Flag Pole Hill (Buckner Blvd. and Northwest Highway) from 6 - 9 PM.
The International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) began this event
in 1992. You can check out the website at www.ISARonline.org; the
vigil is listed under Campaigns.

This year's theme is "I Survived Death Row." Therefore, I am calling
upon all organizations and people that have saved an animal off death
row from any shelter, and I don't care if it's a hedgehog, to bring
those animals to the vigil.

We will highlight these animals during the vigil and acknowledge all
of the organizations and people for the tireless work that you do to
save homeless animals. (Please bring a photo if the animal cannot
attend the vigil.)

When you RSVP, please let us know if you're bringing a death row
survivor and the species of the animal.

All rescue - adoption/legislative/rights/welfare organizations are
invited to set up their table starting at 5 PM; all others are
invited to attend. This event is free for everyone. Please invite
your volunteers, family, friends, co-workers and neighbors (leashed
companion animals are always welcome). We also encourage you to post
this event on your website and list it in your newsletter. The Meet &
Greet is from 6 - 8 and the vigil is 8 - 9 PM.

Please RSVP to vigil2004@comcast.net if you plan to have a table.
This is an event to inform the public about the tragedy of animal
overpopulation, specifically dogs and cats and that spay/neuter is
the answer, HOWEVER, it can apply to any species, such as rabbits,
horses and farm animals (saved from slaughter). We invite you to wear
your organization T-shirt, display your banner, bring your literature
and photos of your adoptable animals, sign people up on your mailing
list, make appointments with prospective adopters and invite the
public to volunteer with your organization. This is not an adoption
event. If you are a rescue and planning to attend with some of the
animals in your system or personal animals, please make sure that
they are sterilized and current on vaccinations. No rescue will be
allowed to participate with unsterilized animals.

Our Special Guest Speaker is Tami Stanley, Gifted Animal Program
Certified Diagnostician. Ms. Stanley will do a demonstration with her
working dogs. Other guest speakers are Starlyn Smelker with the
Greyhound Protection League and Linda McKellor with DFWCares.
Recipients of The Queenie Foundation's Outstanding Media Coverage
Award and Rescuer Par Excellence Award are Randy Bigham and Jennifer
Mills with the Navarro County Star and Audrey Merritt, Founder of the
North Ellis County Animal Awareness Program (NECAAP), respectively.

Tasty food will be available from Ft. Worth's own Spiral Diner. Dr.
David Kahn will be available to administer vaccinations. Live music
provided by Naked Violet.

Please call 972.274.2564 or write to vigil2004@comcast.net if you
have questions or comments.

Great Danes in Marshall, Texas Shelter

Correspondents, writers, photo-graphers, liaisons, advocates and MORE Needed!

There are a myriad of positions available for many different agencies throughout the U.S. There is a great need for shelter workers and volunteers, liaisons, political activists, campaigners, publicists and press people, photographers, correspondents and, yes, transporters!

Most of these positions are not, in and of themselves, demanding. Of course, if you care about animals they can become very time consuming efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and varied talents of those who are doing this work -- many out of the kindness of their hearts.

If you are interested in volunteering for this effort or others, we invite you to write us and let us know what you'd like to do, how often and how you like to work. We're sure to be able to find a match for you!

We thank God for each and every one of you who care enough to confront almost insurmountable odds to do everything you can to change this travesty in our world, often facing your own  humanity to do so, and putting your own emotions on the line to care for the voiceless among us: GODSPEED to each and every one...
