Hola all, I wanted to pass
along this inquiry from a great group of people up in Kingman who are
just getting started in learning all the resources and networking lingo
jargon contacts etc and they are way outnumbered up there so if one
person from each org listed could contact her to provide her with info
about your group, perhaps it would be a great ally for all of us who
need assistance in those harder to reach towns????
Jaime
Hi Jamie,
Could you please tell me more
about the southern california rescue coalition? Because we transport
pets from Kingman all the way
to Rancho Santa Fe,
cal and sometimes pets are
being rejected by the adoption center and it is a pity to have to
transport them all the way back to Kingman with no adoption possibility
in sight. So, if there would be a contact to reach in that area, they
might have a better chance for a good life. Thanks
From FILA RESCUER: If my
information is correct, there are seven adult filas, one
of which is a mamma who gave birth to three puppies Wednesday night
at the shelter. The poor thing! They were pulled from a drug bust
and then transported to the shelter, and THERE she gives birth.
There are also six 2 to 3-month old puppies. So, there are a total
of sixteen pure bred filas.******
Hello to all. Allow me to introduce myself and our organization. My
name is Jaime Garcia and I of course live nowhere near the east
coast, so naturally I took on this task:) I live in Phoenix, AZ. I
am an active member of Fila Rescue, Inc. an organization founded by
many of us long term rescuers of Fila Brasileiro to work together to
the best of our ability to rescue, foster, trans, rehome our beloved
breed.
Why you may ask is this gal ALLLLLL the way on the W. coast handling
this? Well, for one we have very few Volunteers of FRI on the east
coast and our main Volunteers reside in PA where they are always
challenged due to the puppymills in PA such as Kimbertal and other
byb/miller/wannabees, and of course we have lots of Fila people in
FL, GA, VA, Carolinas, but alas (shhhh its a secret, lol) there seems
to be some Hurricane Alley syndrome putting a damper on EVERYONE:(
OK sorry just trying to keep my humor in all of this tradgedy. first
I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication,
this current situation reoccuring in your state has got to be the
ultimate rescuers challenge in my eyes, having been part of the
efforts of the Rodeo/Chediski fires here in Az a couple years back, I
cant even fathom your current situation.
It breaks my heart to think of all the abandoned animals out there
frightened and alone, and for all the owners that try to go back and
get their animals, refusal by authorities must be maddening.
I joined your list in hopes of garnering more info about the Fila. I
have their A#'s thanks to Piglet and Eric but it wasnt until just now
going thru msgs on this list that I found their location. I have some
questions and I am guessing this group will have all the correct
information. So if you all would please indulge me, I know you are
swamped, but I just need to know who the correct Chief is to talk to
regarding these poor wayward souls.
1) Confirm Eric has mom and pups? How many pups still alive?
2) Confirm Eric has the 6 weaned pups?
3) Does MDCAS alter pups that young and if so when does it seem
feasible to have that done. ***this is the hardest part of rescuing
these pups and all of them for me as right now under emergency status
I cannot ethically just let any Fila person take these dogs even if
just temp til we can trans out of FLA. We only have one or two FRI
volunteers in FLA and they are challenged as well with the current
circumstances of weather, traffic, and limited availability of gas.
4) How many adults are still at shelter?
5) What are the shelters views on allowing these adults w/temp
(aggression to unknowing staff)to be sprung by rescue? *** I am going
to assume hold time for them is virtually non existent. Assuming
also that they are trying to make space for the next onslaught? As if
summertime isnt bad enough on all of us...sigh....
6) Who is the contact at the shelter to effectively discuss the
rescue of the remaining Fila?
7) Eric? Please confirm how long you can hold the ones you have and
we have help there to pay for your expenses. I still need to know
about the altering etc of the pups as it plays a key role in how much
my hands are or are not tied in seeking assistance til we can move
them into longer term foster.
8) Is Karin my contact there and confirm she is out of office this
week? Whom is assuming her responsibilities.
I have more questions I am sure, but truly need more info in order to
effectively nail this down, and time is of course of the essence.
Particularly with me being 3hours behind ya all.
Also please note, I have many contacts in the Rare Breed Mastiff
network so if ever you need help feel free to ask me, I will do
whatever I can to assist you. I cannot thank all of you enough for
taking the time for our Fila (Psuedo Bloodhounds LOL) and if there is
ever anything I can do for any of you do not hesitate to ask.

There are a myriad of positions available for many different agencies
throughout the U.S. There is a great need for shelter workers and
volunteers, liaisons, political activists, campaigners, publicists and
press people, photographers, correspondents and, yes, transporters!
Most of these positions are not, in and of themselves, demanding. Of
course, if you care about animals they can become very time consuming
efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and varied talents of those
who are doing this work -- many out of the kindness of their hearts.
If you are interested in volunteering for this effort or others, we invite
you to write us and let us know what you'd like to do, how often and how
you like to work. We're sure to be able to find a match for you!
We thank God for each and every one of you who care enough to confront
almost insurmountable odds to do everything you can to change this
travesty in our world, often facing your own humanity to do so, and
putting your own emotions on the line to care for the voiceless among us:
GODSPEED to each and every one.. |
