2 Brothers In Central Arkansas Will Be Shot ASAP!!  VERYSoon

These 2 brothers will be shot if they do not find safety soon.

The two brothers are harrasing a farmer's horses and so the farmer has said he will shoot them and this is in a rural area & this will happen.  I took this photo of the brothers this summer so they are a little bit bigger but not much, they have short legs. Both are sweet dogs just unlucky where they live. They are around 9 mos. of age.

I was contacted about them at church this evening & need to get help for them very soon. The brothers are right outside of Little Rock, Ar.. I will be happy to assist in transport to help out.

Please call me or email me at: mcgregorandme@aol.com  @aol.com or 501-351- 4548

Katie, if you can help send this out about the brothers I would thank you greatly.

Concert aims to keep dogs, cats alive

Area musicians pitch in to cut kill rate at Charlotte shelter

Staff Writer

Area musicians, event promoters, designers and copywriters are chipping in to try to save 15,000 unclaimed dogs and cats killed in Charlotte's animal shelter each year.

The group has organized a Jan. 8 concert and created an album featuring area musicians ranging from Charlotte legends the Spongetones to folksinger Si Kahn.

All the proceeds, they say, will help finance a public awareness campaign to remind people: "Spay. Neuter. Adopt."

The effort originated over three dogs. Christine Weber's mutt liked to play with Jim Mitchem's Australian shepherds at an area park and the two humans started to talk about what they could do to stem the number of animals put to death.

Weber, an animal shelter volunteer, said she knew she wanted to do more after reading the Observer's June 2003 "Death at the Pound Series" that chronicled how 265,000 dogs and cats were put to death in North Carolina's public shelters in 2002.

She asked Mitchem, who had recently formed an advertising group, Smash Communications, if he'd be interested in creating a public service ad campaign.

He jumped on the idea and developed a campaign for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's animal control unit. But there was no money to buy the billboards and newspaper ads to get out the message.

Mitchem then turned to area musician, producer and dog owner Jason Hausman, who rallied fellow musicians, pulled together songs from 18 artists for an album, and organized the concert.

The organizers say they were amazed by the eagerness to help. "This group had never really been tapped into," Weber said.

All the proceeds, they said, will pay for the advertising campaign.

WHERE: Neighborhood Theatre, 511 E. 36th St., Charlotte. Details: (704) 358-9298; http://www.neighborhoodtheatre.com/

Hi everybody,
I have been a silent member of your active group for a few months.
It's time to get active.  My name is Cat Beasley, I am the owner and director of Pets-Haven Animal Rescue in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Our website is www.pets-haven.com. Most of this groups activity is
far away from here but if we can help with transports in this area,
let us know.  We drive a Subaru wagon. Our shelter is currently
filled to capacity, no foster homes left.

Hi All,

We got a call from the police last night that they had 8 goats
running at large and wanted them impounded. The wacky owner decided
to relinquish them. There are 7 nannies and one billy (I think??)
They look to be around 2 - 3 months old except one big nanny. I'm not
sure what their breeds are - I' think one is a Nubian and one is a
LaMache, I'll do some research. They look in 'okay' condition but
they were pretty hungry when they got home. One has a cough so we'll
have to wait and make sure it's alright. It looked to have a tight
collar on it so it may just have an irritated throat. Adoption fee
will be minimal, enough to take care of gas and feed. Anyone
interested, let me know.

75,000 American horses were slaughtered for human consumption in
2002. This equals 205.48 horses PER DAY! A horse is probably being
brutally slaughtered RIGHT NOW.

Subject: Heads up: Texas Arabians need help!!!

The horses at this website will be auctioned at a public auction in
Woodville, TX, without papers, unless sold before Sept.

Please look at them and forward this email to anyone who might be
interested in them.

Dear Animal Lovers, Activists and Rescuers:

The Queenie Foundation announces its ninth annual National Homeless
Animals' Day Candlelight Vigil Saturday, August 21, 2004, Dallas, at
Flag Pole Hill (Buckner Blvd. and Northwest Highway) from 6 - 9 PM.
The International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) began this event
in 1992. You can check out the website at www.ISARonline.org; the
vigil is listed under Campaigns.

This year's theme is "I Survived Death Row." Therefore, I am calling
upon all organizations and people that have saved an animal off death
row from any shelter, and I don't care if it's a hedgehog, to bring
those animals to the vigil.

We will highlight these animals during the vigil and acknowledge all
of the organizations and people for the tireless work that you do to
save homeless animals. (Please bring a photo if the animal cannot
attend the vigil.)

When you RSVP, please let us know if you're bringing a death row
survivor and the species of the animal.

All rescue - adoption/legislative/rights/welfare organizations are
invited to set up their table starting at 5 PM; all others are
invited to attend. This event is free for everyone. Please invite
your volunteers, family, friends, co-workers and neighbors (leashed
companion animals are always welcome). We also encourage you to post
this event on your website and list it in your newsletter. The Meet &
Greet is from 6 - 8 and the vigil is 8 - 9 PM.

Please RSVP to vigil2004@comcast.net if you plan to have a table.
This is an event to inform the public about the tragedy of animal
overpopulation, specifically dogs and cats and that spay/neuter is
the answer, HOWEVER, it can apply to any species, such as rabbits,
horses and farm animals (saved from slaughter). We invite you to wear
your organization T-shirt, display your banner, bring your literature
and photos of your adoptable animals, sign people up on your mailing
list, make appointments with prospective adopters and invite the
public to volunteer with your organization. This is not an adoption
event. If you are a rescue and planning to attend with some of the
animals in your system or personal animals, please make sure that
they are sterilized and current on vaccinations. No rescue will be
allowed to participate with unsterilized animals.

Our Special Guest Speaker is Tami Stanley, Gifted Animal Program
Certified Diagnostician. Ms. Stanley will do a demonstration with her
working dogs. Other guest speakers are Starlyn Smelker with the
Greyhound Protection League and Linda McKellor with DFWCares.
Recipients of The Queenie Foundation's Outstanding Media Coverage
Award and Rescuer Par Excellence Award are Randy Bigham and Jennifer
Mills with the Navarro County Star and Audrey Merritt, Founder of the
North Ellis County Animal Awareness Program (NECAAP), respectively.

Tasty food will be available from Ft. Worth's own Spiral Diner. Dr.
David Kahn will be available to administer vaccinations. Live music
provided by Naked Violet.

Please call 972.274.2564 or write to vigil2004@comcast.net if you
have questions or comments.

Sincerely,
Enid Breakstone,

Correspondents, writers, photo-graphers, liaisons, advocates and MORE Needed!

There are a myriad of positions available for many different agencies throughout the U.S. There is a great need for shelter workers and volunteers, liaisons, political activists, campaigners, publicists and press people, photographers, correspondents and, yes, transporters!

Most of these positions are not, in and of themselves, demanding. Of course, if you care about animals they can become very time consuming efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and varied talents of those who are doing this work -- many out of the kindness of their hearts.

If you are interested in volunteering for this effort or others, we invite you to write us and let us know what you'd like to do, how often and how you like to work. We're sure to be able to find a match for you!

We thank God for each and every one of you who care enough to confront almost insurmountable odds to do everything you can to change this travesty in our world, often facing your own  humanity to do so, and putting your own emotions on the line to care for the voiceless among us: GODSPEED to each and every one...
