Subject: Veterinary Techs Needed for Spay/Neuter Clinic
Dear Best Friends Network Member,
Best Friends Catnippers is trying to recruit a few additional volunteers with
veterinary technician experience for our upcoming spay/neuter/vaccination clinic
on Sunday, January 16, 2005, in Glendale, California. Our high-volume clinics
generally handle about 80-100 feral cats in one day; therefore, additional
technical assistance is always needed. All surgeries and vaccinations are
provided at no cost to the public.
Best Friends Catnippers is an outreach program of Best Friends Animal Society,
which is dedicated to humanely reducing the population of homeless and stray
feral cats in Los Angeles County through free trap-neuter-return programs. Our
free, bi-monthly clinics, and our coupon programs have resulted in over 4500
feral cat sterilizations since our launch in October 1999.
We aren't necessarily looking for licensed veterinary technicians, but we do
need people with experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Surgery Prep
* Assisting with spay or neuter surgeries
* Surgery anesthesia
* Administering shots and sub-q fluids
* Monitoring ICU and Recovery
(Note: Best Friends Catnippers can provide a tremendous amount of valuable
hands-on experience and service opportunity for vet and veterinary technician
students.)
Clinic check-in starts at 8:00 a.m., and we generally run until approximately
2:30 p.m.
If you are available to help out, or if you know of any feral cat-friendly
veterinary technicians (or students) who might be persuaded to help, please
contact Carol Long at (818) 640-4784 or e-mail to:caroll@bestfriends.org.
Thank you for taking care of animals in your community, and for participating in
the Best Friends Network.
