Subject: Urgent help needed
My neighbor said two pure breed Dobies showed up at her house and one has
a collar, one is male the other female. One looks very thin. I am way
overloaded with dogs and, will be requesting some help for myself so
there is just no way I can keep the two Dobies and I know
one of the local neighbors will be calling the dog pound (it's one of her
favorite things to do.)
If he comes to pick them up it will cost
$20.00 a piece to keep them from dying and, he has been putting dogs
down everyday lately.
If anyone can help them please come and get them right away!
Please let me know. They are located near
New Lexington OH about an hour from Columbus.

Dear Fellow Rescuers,
Most of you here know me from dane rescue... Many of you also know how
difficult it seems to be, to have our dane rescuers work together for the
benefit of the dogs, not themselves. I have had it with BAD rescuers.... I
have spent 10yrs in the valley trying to repair and do damage control
after these bad dane rescuers rape the dane community.
That being said, I wanted to let you know that I have formed an alliance
called: Great Dane Rescue of Az Alliance PO Box 86745 Phoenix, AZ 623

This Alliance has been formed to bring dane rescuers together. This will
be composed of dane rescuers that agree to a certain criteria...
-Our danes will be vet checked as well as altered B4 going to their new
adoptive home.
-Our danes will be UTD on vaccinations, as needed. -Our
danes will be temperament tested -We will do a home visit b4 an adoption
is completed. -Our danes will have a meet & greet with potential adopters
& their present furkids.
OUR rescuers will run their own rescues and set their
own adoption fees but will agree to the "criteria" in order to be
listed on the Alliance website. Those rescues with the Alliance will
be the ONLY rescues recommended to potential adopters, different
rescue sites as well as agencies throughout the state of AZ, Nevada
and California. WE will be helping the rescues we now have to do the
best job they can. We can no longer afford for every dane rescue to
be like an island unto itself. We all need to work together & share
our knowledge & information with each other. After all, it's all
about the dogs...Sharon-Dane Savers & Linda-Danes Estates are
finalizing the details & criteria for the Alliance. WE are hoping
that by forming this Alliance we can prevent rescuer burn out as
well as bad dane rescues from popping up and taking hold on an
unsuspecting community.
This is our goal! Plus with alllll the years of
experience Sharon & I have, we feel it would be criminal NOT to share what
we have learned with those who are doing their best to make a positive
contribution to the dane community. WE will be a force to be
reckoned with for anyone thinking they will mismanage or mistreat rescue
danes here in the state of AZ. I hope we will have your moral support! lol

Dear Animal Lovers, Activists and Rescuers:
The Queenie Foundation announces its ninth annual National Homeless
Animals' Day Candlelight Vigil Saturday, August 21, 2004, Dallas, at
Flag Pole Hill (Buckner Blvd. and Northwest Highway) from 6 - 9 PM.
The International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) began this event
in 1992. You can check out the website at
www.ISARonline.org; the
vigil is listed under Campaigns.
This year's theme is "I Survived Death Row." Therefore, I am calling
upon all organizations and people that have saved an animal off death
row from any shelter, and I don't care if it's a hedgehog, to bring
those animals to the vigil.
We will highlight these animals during the vigil and acknowledge all
of the organizations and people for the tireless work that you do to
save homeless animals. (Please bring a photo if the animal cannot
attend the vigil.)
When you RSVP, please let us know if you're bringing a death row
survivor and the species of the animal.
All rescue - adoption/legislative/rights/welfare organizations are
invited to set up their table starting at 5 PM; all others are
invited to attend. This event is free for everyone. Please invite
your volunteers, family, friends, co-workers and neighbors (leashed
companion animals are always welcome). We also encourage you to post
this event on your website and list it in your newsletter. The Meet &
Greet is from 6 - 8 and the vigil is 8 - 9 PM.

This is an event to inform the public about the tragedy of animal
overpopulation, specifically dogs and cats and that spay/neuter is
the answer, HOWEVER, it can apply to any species, such as rabbits,
horses and farm animals (saved from slaughter). We invite you to wear
your organization T-shirt, display your banner, bring your literature
and photos of your adoptable animals, sign people up on your mailing
list, make appointments with prospective adopters and invite the
public to volunteer with your organization. This is not an adoption
event. If you are a rescue and planning to attend with some of the
animals in your system or personal animals, please make sure that
they are sterilized and current on vaccinations. No rescue will be
allowed to participate with unsterilized animals.
Our Special Guest Speaker is Tami Stanley, Gifted Animal Program
Certified Diagnostician. Ms. Stanley will do a demonstration with her
working dogs. Other guest speakers are Starlyn Smelker with the
Greyhound Protection League and Linda McKellor with DFWCares.
Recipients of The Queenie Foundation's Outstanding Media Coverage
Award and Rescuer Par Excellence Award are Randy Bigham and Jennifer
Mills with the Navarro County Star and Audrey Merritt, Founder of the
North Ellis County Animal Awareness Program (NECAAP), respectively.
Tasty food will be available from Ft. Worth's own Spiral Diner. Dr.
David Kahn will be available to administer vaccinations. Live music
provided by Naked Violet.

The following dog has been
released to rescue by her guardian:
Ally, very sweet Aussie/Heeler, fully vetted, on Pro-heart 6, 1 yr.
old, definitely a people dog.
She has been at the vet for treatment from a dog fight. She was
attacked by two of the guardian's other dogs, who have since been
siezed by Dallas AS.

become very time consuming efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and
varied talents of those who are doing this work -- many out of the
kindness of their hearts.
