Fred's
family couldn't even be bothered to come into the shelter to dump him off. They
just tied him to the gate in the middle of the night and walked away. Some
payback for a five year old lab who has given unconditional love to them for his
whole life!
Fred really is a great family dog. He's smart as a whip - knows how sit and
lay down on command, knows how to shake hands. He's handsome, he's loyal, and
he's loving. In short, he's got it all - everything except a home.
The county recently ordered the shelter to adhere to a strict limit on the
number of dogs kept and the length of their stay. During the last two days,
more than 30 dogs were brought in. The arrival of so many dogs at one time made
it almost certain that there will be a mass gassing. Labs have been very hard
to place in West Virginia, and Fred is going to need to get out of the shelter
real soon if he is going to have any chance at all to survive. He's a sweet
dog. Can't anyone give him a second chance?
