HUCKLEBERRY HOUND

HUCK

This poor dog will be gassed on Friday morning at 9am. His only crime? He's been CHAINED UP his entire life AND he's afraid of storms.

He allowed his people to chain him EXCEPT when there was a storm. When storming or when there were gunshots fired, he would set himself free and go in the house.

Once there, he'd lay quietly down.

If you can save his life, please go to the pound immediately to save him. Last minute saves are possible on Fridays between 7:30 - 9:00 am.

The warden at the pound where Huck's is waiting for rescue will not hold dogs for anyone, so please don't ask. Scroll down to read the email from the lady who surrendered this beautiful dog. Sounds like he may need a stay-at-home mom. he is a very sweet boy and just wants someone to love him. The pound is located on Rt. 9, in Carrollton, OH. You can call the dog warden at 330-627-4244

Subject: huckleberry hound!!

I had to drop off our pet at the carroll county pound this weekend. I have tried to get him a new home other ways with no luck. He is a white dog with brown ears and some speckles. He is 3 yrs old, part lab &spaniel mix. He is a little shy at first but very loving! He is house trained pretty good but will go if left alone for a long period. He gets along good with most animals and is NOT a alfa male. His name is HUCK! The major problem we had was keeping him hooked up outside when a storm is close or someone is hunting. He is VERY gun/storm shy. He has slit his throat before trying to get loose. He doesn't run away, he heads straight for the house and if you don't let him in or not home he tears down the door. Once he is inside (if you are home!) HE IS FINE AND WILL LAY DOWN ! We have tried several kinds of collars, chains, lasps, ect. and nothing will hold him. We do not have fence to contain him. We are afraid he is going to hurt himself let alone the money we have spent in repairs. He really is a good dog, but our work schedule we can not be home during every storm and he won't hold himself while we are gone. I can use a cage inside but I don't think that would be fair for him as many hours that we are gone. We have tried for 3 yrs. to adjust things for him but have gotten to a point that we feel he needs a new home. I haven't found anyone to take him because of his timidness, or the gun shy thing. He is such a baby once he realizes you're friendly. Listens fairly well. sits, lays, plays ball and thinks he is a lap dog! He is not neutered yet. If you can help him, more power to you ! I would not want him put down if possible.
