MAX

PLEASE
CROSSPOST: URGENT NEED FOR SENIOR DOG
"Max" is
an 8 year old mixed breed (see attached pics, any guesses?) that is in needed
of immediate foster or preferably a retirement home to spend his remaining
years. His owners are moving to Utah & claim they couldn't find ANY place that
would allow pets over 40 lbs. The couple agreed to have him euthanized, but
after the wife departed for Utah... well, the husband (who is still at Ft.
Campbell) decided to make a last ditch effort to find him a home. We only
have until Monday evening to notify the owner that we've come up with a
solution for Max.

This family found Max when he was about 1
year old. He had been abandoned by his prior owner & was heartworm positive.
He survived the heartworm treatment w/out any complications and is still in
excellent health. He is completely housebroken & trustworthy in the house when
unsupervised. He gets along great with children, cats, and other dogs
(females & non-rowdy males).

Personality-wise, this old boy is a
GREAT candidate for foster or
adoption. But, he is a senior pet that
has one of those faces "only a mama
could love" and we fear that he would end up
being a long-term foster pet... something our very small & newly established
foster program is not equipped for.
Some of you may be sympathetic to the family
& the tough decision they've felt they had to make; others of you may be angry
or frustrated thinking they aren't doing enough for their loyal friend. But,
the sad reality is... they will not be taking Max to Utah.
PLEASE... IF YOU KNOW OF A POSSIBLE OPTION
FOR MAX... EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY WITH YOUR THOUGHTS/REFERRALS.
Thank you for your time.
