Hello everyone!

The transport for these kids didn't fill for last weekend, so we are trying
again.

We did get Ashley from Wichita, KS and Sugar Baby from Des Moines, IA to
Kansas City, MO last weekend and they are currently boarding in KC. Dancer
will be staying a bit longer in WI. She is scheduled to have her spay
surgery done and may be going to her new mom sometime later this month.

Both dogs are up to date on vacccines and have their health certificates.
Both adopted homes have been approved.

As usual, all legs stop and start points are flexible, so if you can help in
any way, please email me directly.

Pooch Smooches!

Patti

The founders of MoStar are Jenny Ewing, Zuba Melton, and myself, Patti Maness. My sister, Zuba is actually the one that got me involved in the rescue world. One day she said to me, "Do you know about Yahoo! Groups that deal with canine rescue?" and that's all it took. I was off and running! (grin)

Jenny and I started out as volunteers at the Humane Society in Springfield, Missouri in August of 2002. We did our orientation together. This is a very high-kill shelter. We began by trying to get the dogs out of the shelter and into established, reputable rescues. We screened every rescue before we sent a dog to them. We also helped to set up transports for the dogs to their new rescue group. In November of 2002, we began formulating the idea of forming a group to encompass our activities. And so, was the birth of MoSTAR which stood for Missouri Shelters To Approved Rescues.

By July of 2003, Jenny and I became burned out with our work at the shelter and so desperately trying to save the seemingly endless tide of dogs that kept coming through the shelter doors. Our hearts were heavy with the loss of so many lives that we were unable to save. At present, we are volunteers for SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) http://www.snap123.org here in Springfield, Missouri and trying to get the situation under control from another angle.

Our focus now is to educate the public and to help those in rescue do what they do best ~ care for the animals. We are keeping the MoStar name, but it will not longer be an acronym. Simply this: MoStar ~ Helping area rescues in their supply and transport needs.
