Mr. Adoptable - The Perfect Pup!
Alas, again we have another rescue on our
hands, when it rain sit pours and this summer has be bad.
I was out with family yesterday and couldn't
believe I saw this dog just sitting in the sun, without water and a chain
around his neck. I know it is not rescue policy to 'buy rescues', but I had
to make an exception and do what was right for this dog. Don't worry, he is
safe now and my own crew of dogs are fine with him here.
I guess I should be thankful, at least I don't
have to go to the vets for this one...no signs of real neglect, no ticks, ears
are clean, no limping and appears to have no major medical needs as of yet.
This dog was not ignored again, like some other rescues do when they see how
hard he might be to place. It doesn't take an expert to see the true
qualities of this dog and I know he is a diamond in the rough... at least...
there was no bidding war for him at the shelter and none of this 'no nothing
rescues' snatching up this dog and trying to adopt it out for the first
$500.00. Placement will be selective... Placement will only be within Orange
County...sorry..no out of state applicants and you must fill out a 20 page
application, give a pint of blood and promise to bath twice a week.
But I worry little about placement since this dog
'appears to have' 90% of the qualities most people ask me from and even fewer
of the undesired qualities most of the rescue dogs are rejected for.... not
too old, nice color, no medical needs, no ticks or fleas, doesn't eat alot...
get along well with my cats and other dogs.
I can't count the times I wish I had dog like
this, young, no health problems, nice markings, nice tail, no hip issues,
doesn't smell, no on going medical needs and hasn't barked at all yet. I am
not anticipating any problems with barking, needing to be walked on a regular
basis and feeding will be easy enough.
I don't think we will be out much in cost, really
I got the dog half price and have all documentation. He doesn't come with any
AKC papers, but since this is such a nice dog I doubt it will make any
difference. Oddly, and since I have done shows, I can say this without
insulting anyone, he stacks nicer than many dogs I have seen in local
confirmation shows. I won't be surprised if he had points already and maybe
even a major!
We have all known or have spoken to prospective
homes that have been waiting or wanting a dog like this ... we will have to
screen applicants for him carefully.
