I got  a call from a lovely lady with Round Rock Animal Control who has aPekingese (young, intact male, under 10 mos of age) that the owner turned over to animal control because children were provoking the dog to bite. ....per my brief conversation with Karen, the dog seems to be a doll just was put in an unbearable/abusive situation with obnoxious, unsupervised children.  Please contact her to help get him in rescue.

Here is the  contact info I have :   Karen at 512-255- 387.........email address is kharrington@round-rock.tx.us kharrington @ round-rock.tx.us All the best, Shirley Machacek  if you cannot adopt but would like to foster for Pekingese Rescue, please contact Janice O'Connor off list at jono@gate.net    jono @ gate.net   Janice O'Connor

Please cross post as appropriate.  These Pekes do not deserve to live
like this!

Antonella can pick up these Pekes but will need to have a place for them
to go!

Smithfield is only 19 miles from Preston, Idaho.

Hello I know of two pekes who are kept in an outside kennel with no shade and a little water, they are 10 and 13 (blind). I need some help to get them out of that situation. The owner has agreed to hand me the dogs but I can't take them to my house because I am already overloaded (17 dogs). My name is Antonella and I live in northern Utah. My e-mail is antonella.lepore@u... I have tried to call some representative of the Peke rescue in Utah with not much luck. Thank you

They are not posted on petfinder. I found the listing for the shelter. It sounds like a good one. The shelter is open Saturday noon to 3pm. They both look like Pekes to me.  Anniston is 405 miles NE of New Orleans, LA, 238 miles south of Nashville, TN, 90 miles west of Atlanta, and 64 miles east of Birmingham, AL.

The shelter's info:

Adoption fees are $80.00 for dogs and $60.00 for cats. This helps
defray the medical and boarding costs. The adoption fee for dogs includes a full exam, vaccinations (DA2PLP+CV, Bordatella, Rabies) spaying/neutering, heartworm check, deworming, heartworm prevention, flea preventative, and in some cases, a skin scrape. The adoption fee for cats includes a full exam (feleck/FIV tested, FVRCP), spaying/ neutering, rabies, deworming, and flea preventative.

If you wish to adopt a pet you will need to fill out an adoption application. This allows our adoption counselor to help you select a pet that will fit into your family and lifestyle. You may fill out an application at the shelter or you may call 256-236-1581 to fill one out over the phone.   Come Visit Us!  We are located at 1201 Parkwood Drive, Anniston, AL. Our hours of operation are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. We are closed to the public on Wednesday and Sunday. For detailed directions please call 256-236-1581...Thanks!    _____

The Politics of:

MILLERS

Correspondents, writers, photo-graphers, liaisons, advocates and MORE Needed!

There are a myriad of positions available for many different agencies throughout the U.S. There is a great need for shelter workers and volunteers, liaisons, political activists, campaigners, publicists and press people, photographers, correspondents and, yes, transporters!

Most of these positions are not, in and of themselves, demanding. Of course, if you care about animals they can become very time consuming efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and varied talents of those who are doing this work -- many out of the kindness of their hearts.

If you are interested in volunteering for

this effort or others, we invite you to write us and let us know what you'd like to do, how often and how you like to work. We're sure to be able to find a match for you!

We thank God for each and every one of you who care enough to confront almost insurmountable odds to do everything you can to change this travesty in our world, often facing your own  humanity to do so, and putting your own emotions on the line to care for the voiceless among us: GODSPEED to each and every one...
