Pleas for Assistance from WV

Every week the Mason County Animal Shelter in Point Pleasant, WV takes in a
slew of new arrivals - between 20 and 40 new arrivals every single week.  And
that's just the dogs!  The shelter is packed way past capacity, and they were
forced to start gassing animals on a regular basis.

Among the newcomers this week are:

Guy - a young male Plotthound mix. Guy is a sweet, sweet boy, handsome and
loving.  His age is estimated at about 4 years old.

Tucker - young male collie/labrador retriever mix.  A nice boy.

Chester - an adult male Doberman Pinscher mix who was found strolling down
the middle of a street.  The shelter is guessing Chester's age at about 6.  He's
on the chubby side and could use a diet/exercise regime, but he's a very
sweet boy who just loves to be loved.

Lester - an adult male coonhound mix, about 2 years old.  The poor hounds
have NO chance of being adopted locally.  Their only hope is for a rescue to save
them.

Reba - a beautiful female black lab mix, about two years old, dumped in the
night box with three other dogs.  Next to the hounds, the black labs are the
hardest to place.  No one ever seems to adopt them locally.  Again, their only
hope is to find a rescue to save them.

Cher a gorgeous chocolate lab/American Staffordshire terrier mix, one of the
three dogs dumped in the night pen wtih Reba.  Cher is about 2 years old.

Jeanette - a beautiful baby black lab mix, about 14 weeks old, and so sweet!

Curly - cute baby black lab mix with a curly coat.  Really a pretty boy and
only 14 weeks old.

Sammy - a very sweet male yellow lab mix, about 1 year old.

Honey - a lovable dalmatian/labrador mix, about three years old.  Very nice
girl!

Theodore - Theodore hasn't had a real happy life, it seems.  This sweet
German Shepherd/Norwegian Elkhound mix is very thin, and his neck is covered with
sores.  He's in dire need of some TLC.  Theodore is only 2 years old and very
loving.

Bert - like Theodore, Bert is thin, with sores on his neck.  He's a German
Shepherd/Chow mix, and his age is estimated to be about 3 years old.  This guy
needs your help!

Ernie - a third dog with sores on his neck, a labrador/GSD mix, handsome but
lonely.  Ernie is about 3 years old.

Jennie -  a loving female German Shepherd/Norwegian Elkhound mix, who is only
2 years old.

Baby - an adorable dalmatian/labrador mix, who is about 4 years old.  Baby
loves people, and she even gets along with cats.

Lucinda - a very friendly one year old miniature pinscher/beagle mix.  Really
cute little girl!

Hemmie - an adorable 12 week old male corgi mix.  Too cute to be believed!

Speck - another sweet male corgi mix pup, about 12 weeks old.

Tamara - a really beautiful white german shepherd, about 2 years old.  Poor
Tamara has a touch of mange, which probably will be treated with Invermectin.

Jamie - an adult male American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  This is an
incredibly handsome boy, about 2 years old.

Kim - six month old female lab mix, dumped in the night pen.  Poor baby.

Leresa - another six month old lab mix pup who was abandoned in that night
drop box.  Adorable yellow lab mix girl.

Been there a while and getting desperate to get out!

Ollie - the most urgent of all the urgent dogs at Mason.  Ollie is a senior
black lab mix, between 6 and 8 years old.  He's shy, but he loves to play ball.
Ollie has an old injury to his neck which apparently bothers him enough that
he can't bear to have anyone touch it.  He needs treatment, but the county
refuses to pay for his medical care.  Ollie's only hope to get his problem taken
care of is for a rescue to speak for him.  That is the ONLY way the county
will authorize taking this poor dog to a vet!  Please, Ollie needs help.  Can't
someone save this poor dog?  Nobody deserves to end their life in a gas
chamber.

Tony - A young male boxer/shepherd mix, only a year old.  I don't know why
Tony has been there for months.  He's handsome, young and friendly.  But with
space at such a premium, big dogs are really at risk.  Tony needs to get out.

Spanky - a purebred English coonhound.  All the hounds are in urgent need,
but Spanky is there for a long long time.  If he doesn't get pulled soon, his
time is up.

Talesa - a lovely female rottweiler/lab mix.  Talesa is a pretty girl, only
two years old.  She has the lab coloring, the rottweiler shape to her face, and
a docked tail.  At the shelter two months now, and she's a big girl.  She
needs to get out.

Harold - Handsome Harold is a Coonhound/Lab mix.  This poor guy was picked up
as a stray.  He's undernourished and underloved.  He needs someone to give
him some TLC and help him get some weight back on his body.  He's only two years
old, and again, all the hounds are urgent.

Mack -  Yet another homeless hound.  Mack is an adult male coonhound, about
two years old, a very nice boy.

Tigger - another senior lab, with a brindle coat.  Tigger is about 6 years
old, and he's a nice, loving boy, but his age and his breed put his life at
risk.

Mitch - a young male mastiff mix.  Mitch is one of the largest dogs at the
shelter, and he has to be housed in a cage by himself because of his size.  In a
shelter that normally resorts to putting three or four dogs in a cage, this
means Mitch is taking up space that could be used to save four others.  He
really needs to get out and make room for the newcomers.

Shelly - an adult female Irish Wolfhound mix.  Another big girl.  Her size
puts her life in jeopardy.

Tooties - a three year old akita chow mix.  Poor Tooties had a happy home,
but her owner could no longer care for her.  So Tooties was surrendered to the
shelter with her best buddy Nellie.  Nellie is a young female rottie/lab mix,
only a year old.  Both of these dogs are very friendly, but akita mixes, chow
mixes, rottie mixes, and lab mixes are all hard to place.  These poor girls
need rescue if they're going to ever find a happy home again.

There are many, many MANY more - and dozens of cats.  Large numbers of cats
have been gassed during the last few weeks, and Mason desperately needs rescues
who can save those who remain.

Please take a look at the shelter's Petfinder list to see the entire pet
list:  http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/WV39.html and if you can save any of
these loving pets, please do.

For those of you who have written to Mason over the last few weeks, and have
