December 26, 2004 I received an urgent message regarding a Rottie girl.  I
spent lots of time trying to get her help, and even had; and still have a
wonderful home for the right Rottie.  I've heard nothing back on this one.  Does
anyone know the outcome?
Here is the email on this first Rottie girl:

hey again,

i found an approx one year old female rottie last night as the evening turned
to x-mas.  she all sorts of messed up.  she has an infection on the left side
of her face and it is very swollen.  it looks like she was bit and it got
infected.  she has green puss coming from it.  she also has what looks like
mange.  also misc lacerations on her body(ear)(back).

she is the most friendly dog i have ever met.  considering she is suffering,
she let me grab her wound and check it out....then she started to kiss me.  as
i type she is howling for me to come back to the garage when she is
temporarily staying to comfort her.

i need someone to help board her asap.....as usual.  she has the most
potential out of all of the pups that i have rescued.  absolutely a GEM.

i came across her from hear radio calls of a vicious dog chasing people down
the street.  well another unit got the call and dispo'd the call over the
radio once at the location....."friendly dog....crazy person only."  well as i
figured.  i drove to the location to check it out and observed the pup following
people up to their doorstep at several houses with her little stup wagging
trying to make friends.  so we stopped and got out and she walked right into the
back seat of our police car........as most felons do.  lol.... :)

she is black and a deep mahgony color.  very beautiful.  i will have pics
soon.

any thoughts.

paul

Then I received emails regarding another Rottie (same one or not?) named
Moochie...  I cannot locate the email, but there is a picture of Moochie attached.
Also again, I spent time on this one... and even referred my good friends who
are looking for a Rottweiler.  I have not received a status report on her as
well.

Who can help me so I know whether to put them in my "Placed" File or continue
sending out pleas of help, or personally helping them myself?

Thank you.

Subject: [NEohioPAL]Free Rottweiler to good home

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to find a good home for a male Rottweiler.  As of December 31rst, he is 9 months of age (but, oh, is he a big boy!).  My brother and sister in law can no longer care for him or give him the attention that he needs, so, I am fostering him until I find a good home.  They were going to take him to the Animal Protective League, but, I couldn't allow them to do so.  Given the bad reputation that has been bestowed upon this particular breed, I know that there would be a possibility of him being euthanized if nobody adopted him and that's a fate that, I feel, he doesn't deserve.

Anyway, if anyone is interested or know someone who may be interested, please let me know.  He is a very sweet, mild mannered dog and just needs the attention that my brother just couldn't give him. So, some housebreaking is still required.  If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email or call me at (216) 441-6574.  Thank you so much for your help and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  :-)

Puppy Mill Pups Need Rescue!

I know this is a long shot there was a huge puppy mill bust in Ga.  The dogs are in terrible shape.  The Dobes have been taken by rescues but no Rottie rescues are in the area.  Can anyone help these poor dogs.

If anyone knows anyone in the area that could help please contact me and I will put you in contact with the folk that can help.  There was an extensive transport set up by the other breed rescues so transport is possible. Some of the dogs have already died including a Dobe that the others were trying to eat.  Really sad stuff.  If you know anyone who can help the Rotts please step up.
Thanks,
Marcia

Frederick County Shelter in Maryland

The Fred. Co. Shelter called  said they have a rottie named  Tara.  They say she's really pretty, looks young but on the profile listed on Fred. Co. 's page (I believe it's on Petfinder) they don't list an age.  One of the families working w/ us looking to adopt went and fell in love with her. This family is very rottie savvy, and said she is a darling.  But: They couldn't take her because  she must go to a home where there's no other pets.  They even brought their J.R. terrier and she didn't like him one bit.  She is scheduled to be euthed some time this week the shelter told my friend Joy, her time is up.  They called asking for a foster home. We don't have any available where there are no other dogs.

There's also a young rottie male, great personality too, at a kill shelter in Tennessee. He's on the "urgent" list.  You can call Joy Burrier at 301-898-8913.  They called 2 days ago about him.  He too is scheduled for euth.
*** just called me back, and said the shelter just called with more info on Tara:

*3 yrs old
 *LOVES kids of all ages.
*loves to play ball, run, play
*her profile states she gets along fine w/ other dogs, so the shelter thinks this is something stress related that has  developed since she's been there.
*She was placed once, but chewed the couch, so was brought back.   (crate would help)
*Crate trained
*obedience trained
*a "real doll" the shelter said
*they WILL adopt out of county

Call the Fred. Co. shelter and ask for Pat, Allison or Michelle Dybler if you're interested. The shelter usually doesn't call us unless they have a really good prospect and one that they really feel is worth saving.

P.s. they still have the 7 y/o, "Tons of Fun" down there .  No negative things in

her profile, just her age is a little thing that works against her.  Both are not long for this world, according to the shelter rep.

Thanks!

Greetings...

If you're interested in monitoring BSL (breed-specific legislation)  and other dog legislation proposals around the US, please join  this Yahoo group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BSL_State_by_State/

The purpose of the group is to alert people to upcoming  changes in dog laws, and to round up some volunteers to help  fight undesirable changes. Many of the laws discussed here are  not related just to pit bulls, rotties and other normally-targeted  breeds - we alert to changes in dangerous dog laws, mandatory  spay/neuter laws, etc. If you love your dogs and want to retain  your rights to own them responsibly, please join us. It's a new  group and there isn't a lot of activity on it yet, so we need your  participation!

Kind Regards,

Tracy

Correspondents, writers, photo-graphers, liaisons, advocates and MORE Needed!

There are a myriad of positions available for many different agencies throughout the U.S. There is a great need for shelter workers and volunteers, liaisons, political activists, campaigners, publicists and press people, photographers, correspondents and, yes, transporters!

Most of these positions are not, in and of themselves, demanding. Of course, if you care about animals they can become very time consuming efforts, indeed, and we appreciate the vast and varied talents of those who are doing this work -- many out of the kindness of their hearts.

If you are interested in volunteering for this effort or others, we invite you to write us and let us know what you'd like to do, how often and how you like to work. We're sure to be able to find a match for you!

We thank God for each and every one of you who care enough to confront almost insurmountable odds to do everything you can to change this travesty in our world, often facing your own  humanity to do so, and putting your own emotions on the line to care for the voiceless among us: GODSPEED to each and every one...

Back Yard Breeders: A Disastrous Combination

Rottweilers are among the most overbred dogs in the U.S., with vast numbers of purebreds turning up in shelters and pounds throughout the nation.
