Railroad!! (pic)
That is so cool and amazing, I wish
the media would cover these great accomplishments by so many volunteers.
Rusty a senior Golden Retriever mix
from the soon to be closing Monroe County, TN Humane Society rides with 13
other dogs and puppies on their way to Southern California rescues and a proud
new owner for Rusty that lost her past Golden and has rescued hundreds of dogs
for 30 years in California. Volunteers LInda, Rhonda and others are driving
their cars, with their gas money and their volunteer time to get these sweet
companions to safety. Dr. Elizabeth C. Sescilla - President N.C.A.R.E.S.
(North Carolina Animal Resource & Education Services) was the volunteer
transport coordinator that put this amazing transport of volunteers together
to save these dogs from euthanization because the Mayor and County
Commissioners want to make the Humane Society a Kill Shelter or they won't pay
for the care of these animals.
Amazing Rescue Railroad transports
like this go on all over America. Come see the rest of the animals needing to
go to other rescues and homes at
www.weneedahome.net
from WV, TN, IN, OH Humane Societies that need to close down due to lack of
funds from their counties.
It is Sunday, 5:55 pm, pst.
Rusty and friends are now released from Nancy (OKCity, OK--Flagstaff, AZ) to
Linda. After a stop for a few baths... they are now on their way with Linda
and hubby to Lake Havasu where they will overnight. Then tomorrow AM (I am
monitor for this part of the trip) they will travel to Blythe CA to meet
Rhonda, then onto Riverside, CA. Four of the dogs will come with me (one
going to Save a Dog's Fosterer), and mom and 8 pups (the 9th stayed behind in
a foster) will travel on to northern california.
Several other doggies were helped along the way.
These coast to coast transports are difficult, no question. But they CAN be
done. I am hoping to take more animals from this shelter before the ax falls.
Please, please; help these doggies to safety. They deserve it, and so does
the woman who near singlehandedly has cared for and fed these dogs--from her
own pocketbook-- to save them from a terrifying fate. If ever the statement
that one person CAN make a difference has proven true, it is this woman,
Laurie, Madisonville, TN.
I wish you well, each and every one. And to all that offered support--moral,
time, and financial-- to those who just would NOT give up, to those who have
these dogs on their prayer lists, to those who offered advice and expertise,
to those that drove, to those that monitored, to those that have held this
transport in their hearts and coached me through disappointment, I can only
add... Amen.
Truly with great love and admiration I write this. I am absolutely humbled by
your great work and love. Thank you, everyone. Sherry
