Sky & Ben- PLEASE!

This is an urgent plea for help for these poor, sad little guys. Ben and Sky are owner turn-ins. They don't have to be held for the owners to find them because the owners brought them here. This means that they are first into the gas chamber if the pound fills up again, and it has been frequently.

They are available NOW.

These two are terrified

The little guy much more so than the bigger one who is trying to comfort his little friend.

They are heartbreaking

I am praying some kind soul will take both of these boys together as they are so bonded.

PLEASE save these two nice dogs' lives, and hurry!

The pound is very full and many dogs have been euthanized due to lack of cage space. $52 for license, spay, first vaccine, and microchip.

The three step method of killing at the Sandusky County Dog Pound.

Step One: Dog is inserted into cage. All dogs, young or old.

Step Two: Cage is then put into the EUTHANAIR, This antiquated machine was built in California in the early 60's. It was designed as a high altitude decompression chamber, or, more commonly known as a Suffocation Chamber. The pound uses it today to administer Carbon Monoxide.

Step three: Dead dog is then placed in garbage bag and disposed of in dumpster where it awaits the journey to its final resting place.

The Humane Society of the United States had this to say about Carbon Monoxide:"slower, and more expensive - It is absolutely unacceptable to use CO for the euthanasia of dogs and cats who are old, under four months of age, sick, or injured." In fact the The Humane Society of the United States, The American Humane Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association ALL recommend lethal injection as the much preferred, more humane method.
