Good Day -
We had a stray dog in our neighborhood for about 2 weeks or so. He is a part
chow mix and has cataracts. My kids and I called him "Bear". I had put an
ad in the paper for a found dog and the owners did call. The husband
wanted me to lie to his wife that the dog was already gone. I refused. She
called and said her husband was going to pick him up. When he called back
very mad, he said he was going to have the dog euthanized. I didn't
let him know where I lived.
Bear would usually stay around
the house since he couldn't see the 4 foot jump down into our fenced
wooded area (we have 3 other dogs that go into the yard) - we would
have to carry him into the area and lift him out again. I kept him
in the garage at night with a blanket, water, food, and a chew toy. He
wandered off and the neighbor, thinking he might get hit by a car because
of his cataracts, called the Cobb County Animal Control. I went out to the
shelter on Saturday to see if I could adopt him and try to find a
rescue shelter for him but they have a policy that you cannot adopt
a pet if you live in the same neighborhood in which he was picked up.
I pleaded with the supervisor
to not euthanize him and he is giving me until Wednesday the 23rd
before he is to be euthanized. Please, please, please help me help
this sweet, sweet, dog!! He is very very loving and such a sweetie! He
just wants a warm home and loving parents! I am unable to have any more
dogs in my home (I rent and my landlord told me no more) but Bear is
not deserving of such a untimely death. He's confused and sad in his
cage. His previous mommy told me on the phone that he was her baby and he
slept with them and she missed him. They called him Stevie. Unfortunately,
I didn't have a number to call her back but I think that his daddy would
eventually have killed him even if she was the one to come pick him up.
His tag number at the shelter
is 7607 and he was in cage #90. He's great with kids and got along well
with 2 of my dogs (the other one was jealous of him - Bear tried to be
friends but my dog would nip at him). They estimate he's about 3
years old. Mr. Don Bruce, the supervisor at animal control, said if I
found a rescue shelter to take him, he would give Bear to them. If you can
help Bear, I will donate $50 a month for the next 12 months to help with
him and other animals looking for a good home. I wish I could do more.
Please let me know... I'm trying to save this baby with the best of my
abilities.
Thank you so much,
