SOS - DISASTER/EMERGENCY SITUATION...PLEASE READ AND PASS ON. THIS IS AN S.O.S. MESSAGE...

We received a call last night for this disastrous situation in Lorain, Ohio. A woman suffered a stroke and was rushed to the Intensive Care unit at a local hospital. When the Police entered her home, they found 8 dogs and 30 cats...most in cages, except for 2 dogs.

We understand she's had a stroke once before, so we don't understand how she could continue to keep these animals knowing her health was poor and this could happen...which it did.

Humane Officer, Mitch Witherell, and a group of other disaster rescue volunteers rushed to the home today. We have contacted all media (TV, newspapers, etc.) to try to get this situation under control and to find homes for the helpless animals. We're hoping to get some expsure on this story through the TV and newspapers. It was a real discusting mess. Local people did come in and tried to help as best we could. We were able to remove all animals and they went to a Cleveland rescue. PLEASE we need some help on this one ASAP! Conditions were putrid. The smell was so overpowering you cannot imagine. Animals laying in there own waste, no food or water but luckily they only had been there a few days so we got to them all in time. Some do have certain health issues but not real bad but do need medical help. We need donations, food cat and dog, flea medication, and money to help pay for their care and most of all, a HOME! A vet did examine them all anf best of all, he did this for free for us. He even brought flea meds, teated them all and helped out a bit. It was Dr.Woods of Lorain so support those who support our needs and he certainly did that today!
Please pass this on...if you or anyone you know can help in this situation, even if it could be to foster a dog or cat until we can help find them homes....please let us know. You can call the following people/numbers:

Mitch Witherell - Humane Officer for Erie Shores Humane Society = 440-653-1502
Eleanor Mittler - President of Erie Shores Humane Society = 440-322-2440

Thank you and we'd appreciate any help or assistance we can get.
