UNITED ANIMAL NATIONS ARTICLE: POSTED FOR INFORMATION - WE ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS ENTITY

Hi Everyone,

As you may or may not know...United Animal Nations has been helping animals of all kinds for many years and their EARS (Emergency Animals Rescue Service) has been helping animals during and after disasters to make sure they are taken care of as the Red Cross and other emergency services do for humans. They set up temporary shelters and help the local shelters help the animals.

This is probably the most worthwhile charitable organization to donate to because they help all animals in need, so please help in any way you can.   Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2004 11:41:35 -0700 From: uan@registervisitor.org Subject: EARS in Florida to Assist with Hurricane Charley To: SaveDogsAnimals@yahoo.com

Over the weekend you no doubt witnessed the gruesome scenes from  Florida on your television set or in the newspaper. And just as we have  grieved the loss of human life and worried about the economic losses in this  important state, EARS has been working nonstop to be sure the animals  in Florida are receiving the care and attention they deserve.

EARS has been in Florida since the middle of last week, when we were  deployed to assist with Hillsborough County, home to Tampa, where  millions were evacuated in advance of the storm. As you now know, the storm  hit further south than expected and a wide swath of the state suffered  devastating consequences. Yesterday, EARS leaders were dispatched with  Hillsborough County officials to conduct damage assessments in  neighboring Polk County, a vast rural area in central Florida that appears to  have been very hard hit indeed.

Volunteers were officially mobilized late last night to begin arriving  in Bartow, Florida today to help Polk County establish a temporary  animal shelter and to facilitate rescue, sheltering and reunion of animals  there who are displaced or suffering. Dozens of trained and dedicated  EARS volunteers are now en route to assist with what we believe will be  a long-term operation. There could be hundreds of animals in this  facility by the end of the week.

Most of Polk County is without power and  running water.   And even while Hurricane Charley efforts occupy our primary concerns,  fires in Northern California continue to require attention as well and  EARS volunteers on the West Coast are on standby should our services be  needed. We want to invite you to visit www.uan.org to stay updated on  all EARS activity through our EARS Action Reports on the website.    While we are heartened by the outpouring of support the nation is  sending to Florida to help the human victims of this disaster, with your  help we will be there for the animals. We will need medical supplies, pet  food, water and other necessities. With communications and travel  problems, the easiest way to help is by making a donation so we can purchase  what is needed. You may make a donation to assist with EARS Hurricane  Charley efforts online at https://www.uan.org/secure/donate.html or by  calling the office at (916) 429-2457.

Thank you for your continued support and for caring so much for the  animals during times like this.   Sincerely,   Jennifer Fearing Interim President United Animal Nations PO Box 188890 Sacramento, CA 95818 916.429.2457 tel 916.429.2456 fax jfearing@uan.org email www.uan.org web  UAN - EARS program  info@uan.org
